What is CaptionWise?
CaptionWise is a desktop app for lectures and presentation-based learning. It brings live bilingual captions, a caption overlay, an AI tutor, and recording playback into one learning flow.
Can I use computer audio or a microphone?
You can choose system audio or a microphone before starting a session. Each session uses one of these audio sources.
Can I display the original and translation together?
Yes. Choose bilingual, translation-only, or original-only captions. The main view and caption overlay share the same display mode and text-size settings.
How does the AI tutor use slides and speech?
Give consent and select a presentation window during a live session. The tutor connects the slides with the lecture, and you can ask follow-up questions. Screenshots go to Alibaba Model Studio for assessment and, when an explanation is needed, to DeepSeek. Only your chosen window is observed.
How are recordings, captions, and tutor content saved?
Recordings are saved in your chosen local directory. Session information and final captions sync to CaptionWise's server. Tutor screenshots, summaries, and answers are used only for the current session and are not saved to recordings or history.
